Lenovo N23 Touch Teardown Guide

Tools Needed: Plastic Spudger, Tweezers, Phillips Head Screwdriver

1. Remove the Palmrest

  • Remove eight screws from around the bottom cover.
  • Push the plastic spudger into the space between the palmrest and bottom cover. Push in until you hear a click.
  • Run the spudger around the edge of the palmrest until the palmrest and the bottom cover are separated.

Before removing any internal parts you will have to disconnect the cables that attach them to the other parts. The next few steps will detail this process.

2. Remove Palmrest and Touchpad Cables

  • Place the plastic spudger under the black tab and gently push up.
  • Use the tweezers to gently pull the cable up and away from the motherboard.

3. Remove the Battery Cable

  • Use the tweezers to gently pull the battery cable away from the motherboard.

4. Remove the LCD Cable from the Motherboard

  • Place the plastic spudger under the black tab and gently push up.
  • Use the tweezers to gently pull the LCD cable up and away from the motherboard.

5. Remove the Wi-Fi Card Cables

  • Place the plastic spudger under the tab and gently push up.
  • Use the tweezers to pull the Wi-Fi cables up and away from the motherboard.

6. Remove the Daughterboard Cable

  • Place the plastic spudger under the white tab and gently push up.
  • Use the tweezers to gently pull the daughterboard cable up and away from the motherboard.

7. Remove the Speaker and DC Jack cable

  • Place the plastic spudger on the right side of the DC Jack cable and slowly push towards the battery.
  • Repeat the same process on the left side of the speaker cable until you have separated the cable from the motherboard.

Now that all of the cables are disconnected the computer can be disassembled.

8. Remove Internal Parts

  • Remove the thirteen screws from the inside of the Chromebook. It is possible that one of the screws are behind a Lenovo sticker.
  • Use your hands to gently pull the daughterboard, motherboard, and battery away.
  • Use the plastic spudger to separate the speakers from the bottom cover before removing them.

9. Remove the Bezel

  • Remove the four screws from under rubber pads on the top and down left and right sides.
  • Press a spudger into the space between the bezel and back cover until you hear a click, then run the spudger around until separate the parts.

10. Remove the Screen and LCD Cable

  • Remove ten screws from the screen and hinges. Use your hands to lift the LCD panel away from the back cover.
  • Pull the tape off of the connector on the back of the LCD.
  • Use the tweezers to pull the cable out of the connector.

11. Remove the hinges

  • Use your hands to lift the hinges away from the back cover.

12. Remove the Camera and Microphone

  • Remove two screws from the camera.
  • Use your hands to lift the hinges away from the back cover.
