1. Remove the bottom cover
- Remove 9 screws from the bottom cover. Note that they may be behind the stickers.
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the mid-base frame and the bottom panel.
- Slowly push up until you hear a click.
- Continue pushing until the bottom cover and the mid-base frame separate slightly.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the mid-base frame until it is completely separated from the bottom cover.
Before removing any internal parts you will have to disconnect the cables that attach them to the other parts. The next few steps will detail this process.
2. Remove the Cables from the Daughterboard
- Place the plastic spudger under the black tabs and gently push up.
- Use the tweezers to gently push up on the cable and pull it away from the motherboard.
3. Remove the Palmrest and Touchpad Cables
- Place the plastic spudger under the black tabs on the connector and push them away from the motherboard.
- Use the tweezers to gently push up on the cable and pull it away from the motherboard.
- To remove the touchpad cable, place the plastic spudger under the black tab and gently push up.
- Use the tweezers to gently push the cable away from the motherboard.
4. Remove the LCD Cable
- Place the plastic spudger under the black tab and gently push up.
- Use the tweezers to gently push the cable away from the motherboard.
5. Remove the Speaker Cable
- Place the tweezers on the side of the connector and slowly push the speaker cable away from the motherboard.
6. Remove the Wi-Fi Cable and the Wi-Fi Card
- Place the tweezers under the cables and gently push up.
- Use the plastic spudger to push the Wi-Fi card away from the motherboard.
7. Remove the Camera Cable
- Use the tweezers to gently push the camera cable away from the motherboard.
- Remove the 6 screws.
Now that all of the cables are disconnected the computer can be disassembled.
8. Remove the Palmrest
- On the top right corner, gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the palmrest and the mid-base frame.
- Slowly push up until you hear a click.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the palmrest until the palmrest and the mid-base frame are separated.
9. Remove the Camera from the Palmrest
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the palmrest and the camera.
- Push up slowly on both sides until they separate.
- To remove the cable from the camera, use the tweezers to pull the cable away from the connector in the camera.
10. Remove the Touchpad from the Palmrest
- Remove 2 screws from the touchpad.
- Gently push up with the plastic spudger until the touchpad separates from the palmrest.
11.Remove the Battery Cable
- Use the tweezers to gently push the battery cable away from the motherboard.
12. Remove the Internal Parts
- Remove 9 screws from around the motherboard.
- Use your hands to gently push up on the motherboard, battery and speakers until they separate from the mid-base frame.
13. Remove the LCD Assembly from the Midframe
- Use your hands to gently push up on the LCD assembly until it separates from the mid-base frame.
14. Remove the Bezel
- Remove the 2 screws from the bezel. Note that they may be behind stickers.
- On the top right corner, gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the bezel and the back cover.
- Slowly push up until you hear a click.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the bezel until the bezel and the back cover are separated. Note that there may be some tape holding them together.
15. Remove the LCD Cable and the Screen
- Remove 12 screws from the hinges and the LCD screen.
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the back cover and the LCD screen.
- Push up slowly until they separate.
- Remove the tape around the connector.
- Use the tweezers to push the LCD cable up and away from the screen.
16. Remove the hinges
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the hinges and the back cover.
- Push up very slowly until the hinges separate from the back cover.
17. Remove the camera and microphone
- To remove the cable from the camera, use the tweezers to pull the cable away from the camera.
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the back cover and the camera.
- Slowly push up on both sides until the camera separates from the back cover.
