1. Remove the Palmrest
- Remove 11 screws from the bottom cover.
- On the right corner nearest to the hinge, gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the palmrest and the bottom cover.
- Slowly push up until you hear a click.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the palmrest until the palmrest and the bottom cover are separated.
Before removing any internal parts you will have to disconnect the cables that attach them to the other parts. The next few steps will detail this process.
2. Remove Palmrest and Touchpad Cable
- Place the plastic spudger under the black tabs and gently push up.
- Use the tweezers to gently push the cable up and pull it away from the motherboard.
3. Remove the Battery Cable
- Push the top of the metal tab away from the connector with the plastic spudger.
- Place the plastic spudger under the connector and gently push up.
4. Remove the LCD Cable from the Motherboard
- Use tweezers to pull the tape off of the connector.
- Push on the sides of the conector with the plastic spudger to separate the cable from the motherboard
5. Remove the Daughterboard Cable
- Use the plastic spudger to push up on the tab.
- Use the tweezers to pull the cable away from the motherboard.
6. Remove Wi-Fi Card Cable
- Use the tweezers to gently push up on the Wi-Fi cable.
7. Remove the Speaker Cable
- Push on the sides of the connector with the plastic spudger to separate the cable from the motherboard.
Now that all of the cables are disconnected the computer can be disassembled.
8. Remove the Internal Parts
- Remove 18 screws from the inside of the Chromebook. Note that one screw is behind the heat sink.
- Use your hands to remove the LCD assembly.
- Use your hands to gently pull the daughterboard, motherboard, and battery away. Note that the WiFi card will come off attached to the motherboard
- Remove the WiFi card from the motherboard by gently pulling it away from the motherboard.
9. Remove the Bezel and Hinge Cover
- On the right corner farthest from the hinge, gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the bezel and the back cover.
- Slowly push up until you hear a click.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the bezel until the bezel and the back cover are separated. Note that there may be some tape holding them together.
10. Remove the Screen and Hinges
- Remove the 12 screws on the screen and hinges.
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the back cover and the LCD screen.
- Slowly push up until they separate.
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the hinges and the back cover.
- Slowly push up until they separate.
11. Remove the LCD Cable from the Screen.
- Pull the tape off of the connector on the back of the LCD.
- Use the tweezers to pull the cable out of the connector.
12. Remove the Camera and Microphone
- Gently push the plastic spudger into the gap between the back cover and the camera.
- Slowly push on both sides until they separate from the back cover.
- Use the tweezers to pull the cable away from the camera.
