1. Remove the Palmrest
- Remove 9 screws from around the bottom cover. Note that 2 of the screws are underneath the rubber feet nearest to the hinges.
- Push the plastic spudger into the space between the palmrest and the bottom cover.
- Push in until you hear a click.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the palmrest until the palmrest and the bottom cover are separated.
Before removing any internal parts you will have to disconnect the cables that attach them to the other parts. The next few steps will detail this process.
3. Remove the Battery Cable
- Remove any tape from the connector.
- Use the tweezers to gently pull the battery cable away from the motherboard.
4. Remove the LCD Cable from the Motherboard
- Remove any tape from the connector.
- Use the tweezers to gently pull the LCD cable away from the motherboard.
5. Remove the Daughterboard Cable
- Use the tweezers to lift the tab on the connector.
- Pull the daughterboard cable away from the motherboard.
6.Remove the Wi-Fi Card Cable
- Use the tweezers to gently pull the cables up from the Wi-Fi card.
7. Remove the Camera Cable
- Remove the tape from the connector.
- Use the tweezers to gently pull the cable away from the motherboard.
8. Remove the Speaker Cable
- Use the tweezers to pull the tape off of the speaker cable.
- Disconnect the speaker cable by pulling it away from the motherboard.
Now that all of the cables are disconnected the computer can be disassembled.
9. Remove Internal Parts
- Remove 17 screws from around the internal parts inside of the chromebook.
- Use your hands to gently pull the daughterboard, motherboard, speaker, and battery away.
- Note that the Wi-Fi card will come off connected to the motherboard. To remove it, pull the Wi-Fi card out from the connector.
10. Remove the Bezel
- Place the Chromebook on its back cover.
- Press the plastic spudger into the space between the bezel and the back cover.
- Run the spudger around the edge of the bezel until the parts are separated. Note that there may be some tape holding them together.
11. Remove the LCD Cable from the Screen
- Remove all 4 screws from the LCD, then lift it away from the back cover.
- Pull the tape off of the connector on the back of the LCD.
- Pull the cable out of the connector.
12. Remove the Hinges
- Remove 8 screws from around the hinges.
- Gently use the plastic spudger to separate the hinges from the back cover.
- After they are detached, use your hands to pull the hinges away from the bottom cover.
13. Remove the Camera and Microphone
- Gently push the plastic spudger under the camera.
- Slowly push up on both sides until they separate from the back cover.
- To remove the cable, use the tweezers to pull the cable away from the camera.
